Leading PV manufacturer GoodWe has entered the solar battery market with the Lynx Home U Series, an expandable modular solar battery that offers value and some nice quality of life features. The GoodWe solar battery comes in a variety of sizes ranging from 5.4 kWh through to 32.4 kWh which means you can find the right capacity for your needs.
The chemistry behind the Lynx Home U Series is Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) which is the safest material on the market when it comes to solar storage. The rated voltage is nothing to sneeze at coming in at 51.2V across the entire range with a max discharge power of 2.88 kW for the 5.4 kWh model and 5.76 kW for the rest.
The depth of discharge (DoD) is a measurement based on how much of the total stored energy can be used on each discharge cycle. In order to prevent damage to the battery itself sometimes a small amount of the stored power is kept. The Lynx Home U Series range of solar batteries see a DoD of around 90%.
Lynx Home U Series Features Include:
Auto Recognition Of Additional Modules
The ability to easily add more solar batteries as you need is often understated. As a solar battery is an investment that takes time to pay off, being able to dip your toes in with a single module to get things started makes a lot of sense. Once you see the benefits and confirm that the investment is sound you can add additional Lynx Home U Series modules in parallel.
Additional modules are automatically recognised by the existing system which cuts labour costs significantly and makes management a breeze. Flexibility is key and if your home is expanding that means the power demand increases so for those with growing families this auto recognition means your solar power system can grow with you.
Remote Diagnosis & Upgrades
While we only stock products from brands we have had a good track record with in the field, sometimes malfunctions happen. We offer support for all of our installs and will always attend to any issues that pop up. A nifty feature of the GoodWe Lynx Home U Series that makes servicing easier than ever is the remote diagnosis and upgrade ability.
With this function the Lynx is able to send diagnosis data to us so we can ascertain any issues and ready a fix should we need to visit your home or business to carry out repairs. When firmware updates are released the software will be downloaded and applied to all battery modules simultaneously.
Auto Undervoltage Reboot Feature
Undervoltage is sometimes referred to as a brown-out and happens when a 3 phase power system sees the average voltage drop below its intended levels. If this process happens frequently it can cause degradation of any electrical equipment, lowering its lifespan.
If the Lynx Home U Series detects undervoltage it will enter “self-protection” and then reboot automatically. This automation is designed for peace of mind and while brown-outs are not a common issue across Australia the idea of being protected should one occur is great peace of mind.
IP65 Level Protection & Flexible Mounting Options
Given that it is becoming more and more common for remote areas to feature many properties with off-grid or largely self-sufficient solar setups that include solar batteries, having the right kind of protection against the elements is vital. GoodWe’s Lynx Home U Series features and ingress protection rating of 65 which means it is dust tight and protected against water projected from a nozzle.
Goodwe’s solar battery is also flexible when it comes to mounting options with the ability to mount it on the wall or have it installed on the floor. This gives you more options when it comes to planning for expansions or just finding the right place to install it out of the way of your day to day traffic.
